For maths we have been learning about area and square units. We combined maths and art to create our pixel art self-portraits.
Using square units we created a likeness of ourselves then used larger squares to create bigger artworks.
We also wrote in te reo Maori how many square it took to create each of our features.
Here are some of our artworks.
Kia ora Te Hiringa,
ReplyDeleteTUMEKE! I love your pixel art. You all look like Minecraft characters:-) Did you cut out all of the squares? That would have taken some time! How many squares did you use to create your pixel art?

Hi guys, It is Thom here from yaldhurst school.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are combining math and art, and what a wonderful way to do it. Another good thing is that some of you guys will be learning new things with square units. I love how you are involving te reo in this activity because te reo is a big part of being a kiwi (new zealander). All the people look so great.
Hi guys, I really like these they are really cool! they also look pretty fun to do! And, here is a suggestion, maybe you could make a background with paint, or squares again! but overall I love it so much all of them.
