We went out one morning and pulled the weeds out so the kumara had a better chance to grow. Whaea Katie had to help us identify what a kumara plant looked like first to make sure we were pulling out the right things!
Hard at work

ReplyDeleteKia ora, I'm Amelia from Yaldhurst Model School.
ReplyDeleteI loved this because you've actually added photos when a lot of people don't put any photos in.
When I read your post I learnt about what you've been doing and how much work you've put into it.
To improve, you could add some more description.
Why did you do a hard at work photo? Just curious.
-Amelia

ReplyDeleteI liked the way all of you guys remembered about the kumara so now they can grow properly and its good that you are very caring about the kumara and what your meant to pick and what your not meant to I hope that you will have yammy kumara by the end of the team did you maybe think about taking a video of you all working so hard but I love how you have add three pictures it just give the blog post more to look at maybe next time you could write more.
Hi Grey main school, It's Thom here.
ReplyDeleteI have to say this looks like it was hard work and that it would have taken a while do pull out all those weeds. It is great that you are trying to save the kumara, but I still can't beleive that all that weed grew over the holidays. How long did it take for you to pull out all these weeds? Are you going to grow more kumara after these kumara have grown fully?
Keep up the great blogging.
Kia ora Te Hiringa,
ReplyDeleteI love kumara. It is my favourite food to roast. I'm so glad you are able to save the kumara. When will you pick it? Do you think it will be ready for a feast at Matariki?
Our school has a garden too. There are some hard working students, parents and teachers who have been looking after it. Yesterday the picked the last of the tomatoes and some radishes. They were very yummy.
Looking forward to find out what you do with your kumara.

yours sincerely Jonathon
Kia Ora, Zack from Yaldhurst Model School.
ReplyDeleteI like this becuase you put in photos of what happend and what happend before and after the weeds took over. Did you know that if kumaras have holes in them it means that the seed was broken in half.
Did you think about about putting pictures of the kumaras growing in a close up picture. So people could see the progress of the kumaras. That brought me back to when I planted tomatos in my garden at home.
Next time you could include people feelings or maybe talk about how you treat them.
What made think of have a kumara garden at your school?
Did you do this because you like kumaras?
Nga Mihi Zack
Hey Greymain School my name is Renae, I am a 9 year old student from Yaldhurst Model School.

Kia 0ra,Te Hiringa. I am Eamon from Yaldhurst Model School.
ReplyDeleteI loved this blog post because I get to see all the effort you put into this, and the before and after looks, AMAZING! that must've been a lot of work.
The pictures added are good as well, because it shows the effort it took do do all of this work to pull out all the old sticky wet weeds!
Next time you could add some more writing somewhere in this blog, because it would explain more about the time that you put in!
And here is a question. How long did this take to do?
kind regards, Eamon.🐱
Hello Grey Main, I am Sam from Yaldhurst Model School,

Hello Grey main I am A from Yaldhurst Model School,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog post.I think you guys put a lot of hard work pulling out the weeds.I just came to New Zealand a few days ago and I don't know what a kumaru plant means ? can you tell me ?
Hello Grey main school!
ReplyDeleteIm Eamon from Yaldhurst model school!
I really like the way you have a before and after picture, and I think that it gives us a pretty clear idea of how it looks after you have done all the hard work of weeding and taking out all of that nasty bad stuff killing the normal plants in your garden.
Did you think about adding a little bit of info at the bottom of your post if you did think of that, I think you should have added that little piece, it would make your post better, even if it was just a little goodbye.
I think you could have added some more writing at the top or in between, so we understnd a bit more about the post, and what exactly you have done through the process of doing the gardening, and pulling weeds out of the garden.
anyways, bye guys!
Kind regards, Eamon

5. We love to awhi others when they are upset
6. We also like to play this game and its called Bull Rush
We have toru kaiako and there names are Whaea Lee-Ann, Matua Punehu, Matua Andre. They also have a wonderful helper that is also my maamaa, my brother also attends my kura and is in the same akomanga as me. Anyways her name is Whaea Mara she is a wonderful helper because she is very helpful when the kaiako are stressed, that's all the facts you would need to know about Te Puna Wairua.
