Today our class and the rest of the Kapa haka group went to the train station to meet Springfield School and the presenters of What Now! They came over from Christchurch on the Trans Alpine train.
We were all really excited! We performed a haka and a waiata for them. They are going to show the footage on What Now this Sunday 28th August - keep an eye out for us!
Today is Book Character day. We always end our Book week with it.
We had to dress up as our favourite book character.
The teachers all dressed up as characters from Harry Potter.
Here are our outfits
This week is Book week at school and today's activity is to Buddy read with our buddy class. We are buddied up with Room 5. They are the new entrant class. We went through to them and listened to them read and we read to them.
On Friday we had our school Olympics day. We were in teams and represented different countries. Halfway through the day it started raining so we had to stop. Hopefully we will get to complete our activities another day.
Today we had some of the high school students come and tautoko (support) us at Kapa haka practice. We are practicing for our local Kapa haka competition that is being held at the end of the term.
Here is our class wharenui. We created it using display boards. We put kowhaiwhai patterns down the maihi boards and included a tekoteko. We decorated the inside with the tamariki a Tane and the tamariki a Tangaroa.
We created our own tikanga for our wharenui too, it helps us to know what we can and can't do if we are in the wharenui.
The wharenui is a quiet working space in our room.
