Te Tiriti o Te Hiringa

We have been learning about the Treaty of Waitangi. We read a story about how Waitangi got its name, the story of Maikuku's cave.

We decided that we needed to come up with a class treaty to make sure that we all have the best environment to learn in. We came up with lots of ideas and then managed to get them down to 4 things that we could follow.

Here is us with our Treaty that we each signed to say that we would abide it.

When Harold came to visit

We have also had Harold visiting school over the last fortnight. We love it when he comes to visit.
This visit he was telling us all about food and how it powers our bodies. He taught us about the food pyramids and the nutrients different foods give us.

Listening to the information Carmen was sharing with us
Thinking about the cards Carmen had given us and whether they were true or false.

Having an X-ray so we could see what happens to the food we eat when it gets to different parts of the body
The seniors were really interested in what types of nutrients were in different foods. Carmen gave us some labels from boxes so we could analyse the sugar, fat and salt content.
