Syndicate 2 Reo Maaori mai!

Term 3 Syndicate 2 is learning numbers and colours, and to ask how many and what colour something is.

Ngā Tae – The Colours
Karaka – Orange
Kahurangi – Blue
Parauri – Brown
Pango – Black
Maota – Dark Green
Kōwhai – Yellow
Māwhero – Pink
Kākāriki – Light green
Whero – Red
Mā -White
He tauira / example
He aha te tae? – What is the colour?
He kōwhai te tae. – The colour is yellow


Ngā Tatau – The numbers

Kotahi – one
Rua – two
Toru – three
Whā – four
Rima -  five
Ono – six
Whitu – seven
Waru – eight
Iwa – nine
Tekau – ten
He tauira/example:
E hia ngā rākau whero? How many red sticks?
E rua ngā rākau whero. Two red sticks.
Kotahi te rākau whero. One red stick.
Tekau ngā rakau whero. Ten red sticks.

Waiata
Mā is white, whero is red, kākāriki green.

Pango is black,mangu is too

Kōwhai yellow, pārauri brown, kikorangi blue.

Karaka is our orange

Wera is hot, māku is wet, makariri cold.

Ua is rain, mahana warm

Whā is four, rima is five 1 2 3 4 5.

Ono is six, whitu is seven, waru number eight.


Iwa is nine, tekau 10. 6 7 8 9 10.
