Our Wharenui

Here is our class wharenui. We created it using display boards. We put kowhaiwhai patterns down the maihi boards and included a tekoteko. We decorated the inside with the tamariki a Tane and the tamariki a Tangaroa.
We created our own tikanga for our wharenui too, it helps us to know what we can and can't do if we are in the wharenui.
The wharenui is a quiet working space in our room.

Pānui tētahi ki tētahi

Here we are practising reading to someone.

We have to sit next to the other person (elbow, elbow, knee to knee).

We have to use a whispering voice so we can all concentrate.

We have to stay in one spot so we choose enough books for the time we have to read.

We have to read for the whole time.
